GUANO GOLD KWIK-START is a unique and natural DiCalcium phosphate fertilizer imported for use is Australia. Guano Gold has been used on a wide range of agricultural and horticultural crops all resulting in excellent growers' reports and comments.
Guano Gold contains 12% total phosphorus, 29% calcium, 10%silica and also smaller quantities of a range of trace elements. Approximately 50% of the phosphorus is contained in the citrate soluble form, and the other 50% is contained in the citrate insoluble form. This allows for the consistent delivery of nutrient rather than 100% of nutrient being available immediately to the intended crop. Guano Gold is suitable for use in organic (registered with the Biological Farmers of Australia as an approved input product) or conventional food production systems and uses work equally as well in either.
Tests have indicated that the level of heavy metals are very low indeed, which is proving to be a key advantage of Guano Gold. In particular, the cadmium level of less than 2 ppm has caught the attention of the Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF), as they have circulated in formation to members growing potatoes in relation to "Managing Cadmium in Potatoes for Quality Produce". The VFF have also promoted the use of Guano Gold as a result and due to their concerns, have also circulated Guano Gold literature to Victorian potato growers.
The use of Guano Gold on potatoes to date has been most encouraging, for apart from the high yields achieved, the tubers are reportedly of a consistent size with a high degree of marketability. One grower recently advised that he feels so confident that Guano Gold will give good results that he will not use any other phosphorus source.
Consistent with this view point are the reports from Japan that Guano Gold has been used on potatoes (and many other crops) with good yields and potato tubes of high quality.
Obviously the secret with these favorable reports has been good potato agronomic information such as using soil tests to plan the rate of Guano Gold and other nutrients. Blending is possible with Guano Gold according to the soil and plant requirements.
A large scale trial is to be initiated this year to evaluate other Guano Gold claims that it has a low fixation rate and will not tie up in acid soils, and that the silicic acid content has a high Cation Exchange Capacity resulting in higher soil fertility.
