Growers Testimonials

TESTIMONIAL BY

Mr. Peter Randle
10.3.99
Certified NASAA Organic Rice Grower No. 2073
Murrami, N.S.W.

Following the enormous success that organic rice grower Mr. Peter Randle of Murrami via Griffith has enjoyed, it seems his success is being recognized world wide.

In February 1999, Mr. Randle hosted a tour by opening up his organic rice farm to a group of 15 Japanese organic rice growers. These growers had visited Australia specifically to study the agronomy of local organic rice production in Australia. To the surprise and delight of the Japanese rice growers, they noticed that Mr. Randle was using the same Golden Guano organic phosphorus fertilizer (from Madura in Indonesia) that they are indeed using on their own farms in Japan. (Refer to Japanese grower testimonials previously supplied).

Discussing this fact with Mr. Randle through their interpreter, the Japanese growers reported using Golden Guano on their own properties as they claimed that it works very well for them in Japan, and that it is allowable in their organic food production systems.

Mr. Randle also reported that while Australian growers had been slow in the adoption of organic food production, the situation is now changing. While he cultivates some 200 acres of organic rice each season at Griffith, he is one of only 6 or so organic rice growers to do so organically in Australia.

However in Japan while there are some 3,000,000 rice growers in total, some 5000 of these grow organically adding value as they do so. In Australia some 2200 rice growers grow rice conventionally, so the opportunities to boost organic rice production in Australia are enormous. Mr. Randle reports that the organic food retailers are receiving increased demand for organic food generally following recent endosulphan chemical residue concerns.

This report outlines how Mr. Randle used Guano Gold Phosphorus Fertilizer to grow productive, healthy and lucrative organic rice crops.
