Re: USE OF GUANO GOLD KWIK START & K-MAG ORGANIC FERTILIZERS:
Schultz Farming Trust supplies milk to Timboon Farmhouse Cheese and has been farming organically along Biodynamic principles for 25 years.
Due to low soil phosphorus and potassium levels over the last few years, we have introduced a blend of GUANO GOLD - KWIK START and K-MAG to our farm.
At that time our pastures were yellowing and not growing through winter and even into spring. Our cows had shaggy coats and generally showed ill thrift, poor appetite and poor cow condition. Milk production only peaked at 17 litres per cow per day.
Today our herd is peaking at 23 litres per cow per day, the cows look much healthier and look as though they are "working". Our pastures are now actually growing and we expect surplus growth suitable for harvest.
Even our crops of Turnips, Rape and Millet are now an important part of our feeding program and previously they were too unreliable to consider.
On the irrigated land, GUANO GOLD - KWIK START and K-MAG have been applied in spring as well as in autumn and last season for the first time we had developed a strong pasture with healthy clover and grasses. The little weed present has been outgrown by the vigor of pasture.
We are still very committed to the use of Organics. The use of GUANO GOLD KWIK START and K-MAG has given us another tool to correct a nutrient imbalance whilst our farming methods continue to make our farm and business sustainable.
